We see broken people becoming whole, through the love of Christ. To build a community in which to belong, grow and serve. To love our neighbours by helping them overcome spiritual and physical needs. To contribute to Spirit-filled transformation in the city of Guelph.
Most of the time, I don’t mind winter driving. But have you ever had to drive through a bad snow storm? Growing up in Nova Scotia, I learned to drive in pretty intense snow storms. But a few years ago, Amy and I went to Buffalo as part of her birthday celebration. We were staying overnight in Niagara Falls, but while we were driving back from Buffalo to the Canadian border, we hit a big snow storm! I can tell you, having my wife in the car, depending on me to keep her safe, it was a lot more stressful!
Now, I want you to imagine a similar situation, driving through a snow storm, with a child in the car. If you’re a grandparent, imagine it’s one of your grandchildren. If you’re a new parent, imagine it’s your little one. If you don’t have kids, imagine it as a niece, nephew or a friend’s kid. That would be tense!
Now imagine you were tasking with driving a VIP somewhere in such a storm. Maybe you’re driving the university president to the airport. Or maybe some other dignitary. And imagine you hit black ice and your car spins out on the highway! That would be a harrowing tale indeed!
